PRIVACY STATEMENT

I only collect the personal data I need in order to provide the agreed upon services. This can include your name, contact address, email addresses, telephone numbers, your child's name, date of birth, school, instrument and attainment level. you

Where you are the person engaging my services, I process your name, contact address, email address and telephone number because it is necessary for the performance of our contract, or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.

I process your child's name, date of birth and school, instrument, attainment level, and information you provide when making an enquiry, on the basis of my legitimate interests. Those interests are to arrange and deliver lessons appropriate to your child, to communicate with you about their progress, and to respond to enquiries about my services.

I keep your personal data only for as long as I need it:

  • Contact details and enquiry information: deleted once lessons have ended and all invoices have been paid in full.

  • Your child's name, date of birth, instrument and attainment level: retained in my register for 5 years after lessons end.

  • Financial records including invoices and payment details: retained for 6 years after the end of the relevant tax year, as required by HMRC.

Where a statutory or other legal requirement applies, I will keep the data for as long as that requirement demands. All information collected from you will be stored securely, on a password protected and encrypted computer.

I use an administrator to help run my business. They may access your name, contact details, and your child's name, date of birth, school, instrument and attainment level, in order to carry out tasks such as scheduling, invoicing, record keeping and correspondence on my behalf. My administrator acts only on my instructions, is bound by a written agreement to keep your information confidential and secure, and may not use it for their own purposes. I remain responsible for your personal data.

I share your child's name, date of birth, instrument, and attainment level with the Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership in order to meet its statutory reporting and funding obligations to the Department for Education and Arts Council England. I may also share your personal data with legal or other professional advisers, regulatory authorities, courts and government agencies where I am required to do so by law, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

You have rights over your personal data, including the right to ask for a copy of it, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict how I use it, to object to my using it, and to ask for it to be transferred to another provider. Because I rely on legitimate interests for some of the processing described above, you have a particular right to object to that processing at any time.
